PPWR Guide

Turn PPWR requirements into packaging decisions.

Use this guide to frame material, structure, minimisation, labelling and documentation questions for an EU-facing packaging project.

Four decisions

Start with the packaging configuration.

  1. 01
    Material & structure

Map the complete material and component structure before deciding which requirements and evidence are relevant.

  2. 02
    Recyclability & recycled-content evidence

Keep recyclability and recycled-content statements tied to the exact configuration and supporting records.

  3. 03
    Packaging minimisation

Review weight, volume, functionality and empty space as related but separate design questions.

  4. 04
    Labelling & documentation

Identify the information, conformity work and technical files required for the packaging and target market.

Questions to ask

Keep the review tied to the actual pack.

  1. 01
What is the exact material and component structure?

Include coatings, closures, labels, adhesives and other parts that may change the assessment.

  2. 02
Which recyclability or recycled-content requirements apply?

Confirm the packaging category, timing and evidence needed for the actual configuration.

  3. 03
How are minimisation and empty space assessed?

Review functional needs, weight and volume separately from the applicable empty-space calculation.

  4. 04
Which labels and technical records are required?

Match the file request to the economic operator, packaging use and intended EU market.

Packaging Data Pack

Four useful types of project information.

Material Specification
BOM
PCR Declaration
Supplier Documentation

Illustrative document previews — not certificates issued for a product or order.

  1. 01
    Material specification

Material, thickness and construction information for the proposed configuration.

  2. 02
    Component & structure information

A component map, drawing or bill of materials that makes the complete pack visible.

  3. 03
    Relevant declarations

Declarations whose scope can be matched to the selected material, product and order.

  4. 04
    Configuration-specific reports

Test or assessment reports relevant to the intended packaging use and final specification.

Documentation availability varies by product, specification and supplier.
